Q&A

Q: What's the best time to go for the aurora viewing and ice fishing tour?

A: The best time for the Aurora viewing is typically from late September to early April, with peak activity around December and January. That said, the ice fishing can be fun almost any time during the winter. Just make sure to check the weather before your trip, as severe conditions can affect visibility and safety.

Q: Are there any age restrictions for this tour?

A: There are no strict age limits, but I'd recommend it's best suited for kids aged 10 and up who can handle the cold and follow instructions. They do need to be supervised by an adult during the experience.

Q: What should we wear for the ice fishing part? Any tips?

A: Layer up! Start with thermal base layers, then add an insulation layer, and finish with a waterproof outer layer. Don’t forget thick socks, gloves, and a warm hat. You’ll be sitting in one spot for a while, so comfort is key!

Just got back from the Auroras Ice Fishing Adventure – amazing experience!

I just did the Fairbanks Aurora Viewing and Ice Fishing Tour with Reel Alaskan Adventures last week and WOW! The aurora lights were stunning, and sitting in the heated hut while ice fishing was a unique combo. We had hot cocoa, and the guides were super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely dress warm, though, I underpacked a bit and was a little chilly! Highly recommend it for a unique gift or adventure.

Thinking of gifting this tour, but have some concerns!

I’m looking into getting the Fairbanks Aurora Viewing and Ice Fishing Tour for my boyfriend as a surprise! He loves fishing and the outdoors, but I’m nervous about the aurora not showing up and the cold weather. Is it still enjoyable if the lights don’t show? Any tips for first-timers?
