Here at Ohana Surf Project our biggest priority is SAFETY! Our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly. We strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about what we do and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana, to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful. We look forward to welcoming you into our ohana and showing you the aloha spirit that has kept each of us here in Hawaii-- enjoying life & good company, respecting the 'aina (our mother earth), having fun and staying active.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the surfing lessons? My kids are 8 and 10.

A: Great question! Ohana Surf Project welcomes kids starting as young as 8 years old for their lessons, so your kiddos should be good to go. Just make sure they're comfortable in the water, and the instructors are super patient and friendly. They'll guide them through everything step by step and ensure they have a blast!

Q: What should we wear for the surfing lessons? Do they provide everything?

A: You'll want to wear a swimsuit, but don’t worry, they provide rash guards and reef shoes as part of the package! Comfortable clothing is key since you'll be moving around a lot. Just make sure to bring sunscreen since you're in the sun for a while. Enjoy!

Q: What happens if the weather's bad? Can we reschedule our lesson?

A: If the conditions aren't safe, Ohana Surf Project will reach out to you about rescheduling. They’re really good about keeping you informed. Just be sure to check the weather before your lesson, as sometimes they might even cancel the morning sessions if it's too rough, but usually they work with you to find a new time.

Thinking about gifting surfing lessons at Ohana Surf Project!

I’m considering getting my partner a private surfing lesson at Ohana Surf Project in Waikiki for their birthday. I’ve heard amazing things about their instructors and the vibe there! It’s perfect for beginners, which is exactly what my partner needs. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and has tips or suggestions? I want this to be a memorable gift!

Just got back from surfing lessons at Ohana Surf Project!

OMG, I just finished a private lesson with Ohana Surf Project, and it was amazing! The instructors were so patient and really made sure I felt safe the whole time. I’m not super athletic, but I stood up on my board after just a few tries! Can’t recommend this enough if you’re looking for a fun experience in Waikiki!
