Q&A
A: Definitely dress in layers! It can be chilly outside, especially when waiting for the aurora, so thermal underwear, a warm coat, and insulated boots are a must. For the hot springs, you'll need a swimsuit, of course, but I suggest bringing a warm towel for when you get out. Don’t forget gloves and a hat if you’re sensitive to the cold.
A: The tours can go as late as 2 AM, but if the Northern Lights are really popping, they might stay out longer for the best views. Just keep in mind that the pick-up can be anywhere between 4:30-5:30 PM, so it’s a long night! Make sure you're ready for a late return.
A: Yes, you can generally reschedule if weather conditions aren’t good for viewing the auroras or enjoying the hot springs. They’re flexible, but it’s always best to check with AK Bucket List Tours directly for their current policy. They’ll keep an eye on the weather for you!

Just did the Fire & Ice experience and wow!
I just got back from the Fire & Ice: Chena Hot Springs, Ice Museum + Aurora Adventure! It was literally magical! The Ice Museum was incredible, the sculptures are so detailed. We had a great soak in the hot springs under the stars. The guide was awesome, really knew his stuff about the Northern Lights. We saw a bit of aurora too! Make sure to bring snacks; it gives you more time in the springs. Can't recommend this enough!
Thinking about gifting the Fire & Ice experience!
I’m looking to surprise my partner with this Chena Hot Springs experience. We love the outdoors and would just die to see the Northern Lights. It sounds like such a unique gift! Anyone have tips for the best time to go or how to make the most of it?
