Q&A
A: Yes, kids can definitely join the Fissure 8 Tour! However, the company recommends that participants be at least 8 years old for safety reasons. It's a pretty active tour, so just make sure your kids can handle some walking. My 10-year-old had an awesome time and learned a lot about the volcanoes!
A: Wear comfortable hiking shoes for sure! The terrain can be rough at times, and you'll want to be prepared for some walking. Dress in layers since it can get warm, but cooler up near the volcano. Oh, and don’t forget sunscreen and a hat—you're out in the open a lot!
A: If the weather isn't cooperating, they’re really good about rescheduling your tour! Just give them a call or shoot them an email as soon as you can. They want you to have the best experience possible. I had to reschedule mine due to rain, and it was super easy!

Just booked the Fissure 8 Tour! Anyone have tips?
I just booked the Fissure 8 Tour for my partner's birthday next month! I’m super excited but kinda nervous since it's our first time doing something like this. Any suggestions on what to bring or what to expect? We’re staying in Hilo, so is it easy to get there? Also, what’s the food like on the tour?
Fissure 8 Tour was unforgettable!
I just came back from the Fissure 8 Tour, and wow, it was incredible! The guide shared so many fascinating stories about the 2018 eruption, and the landscapes were out of this world. We even got to see steaming lava rocks up close. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore the Big Island! Just make sure to wear good shoes.
