Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the volcano tour? Is it mostly hiking?

A: You’ll definitely want to wear comfortable shoes since there’s some walking involved, especially at places like the Thurston Lava Tube. Lightweight clothing is a good idea, but it can get cool around the crater, so maybe bring a light jacket too. You might also want to avoid white shoes since you’ll be around volcanic ash and black sand!

Q: Are kids allowed on this tour? What age should I consider?

A: Yes, kids can join! It’s a great educational experience for all ages, but I’d say around 7 and up is best since they’ll appreciate the sights more. Just be mindful of their stamina for hiking a bit, especially at the lava tubes and crater!

Q: How does the weather affect the tour? What if it rains?

A: The tour operates rain or shine, but if there are serious weather conditions, they’ll usually reach out to reschedule. Bring a poncho or light rain jacket just in case, especially since it can get misty around the waterfalls. The rain can add to the beauty of the waterfalls!

Can anyone recommend the Big Island volcano tour? I’m looking to gift it!

I’m planning to surprise my partner with the From Big Island Kona Volcanoes and Waterfalls Shared Tour. It sounds incredible, especially the stops at Kilauea Crater and Rainbow Falls! I’m a bit nervous about whether it’s suitable for first-timers like us. Any advice?

Just did the volcano tour today—wow!

I just got back from the From Big Island Kona Volcanoes and Waterfalls Shared Tour and it was amazing! The views at Kilauea Crater are breathtaking, and the lava tube was super cool to walk through. Our guide was awesome too and shared lots of interesting stories. Totally recommend it to anyone thinking about it!
