Q&A

Q: What happens if it rains on the day of the tour? Do they cancel?

A: They usually still run the tour unless there's severe weather. Alcatraz is mostly an indoor experience with the audio tour, but Muir Woods can be a bit slippery. Just dress for the weather! You might want to bring a rain jacket and wear good shoes.

Q: What should I wear for the Muir Woods part of the tour? Is it a lot of walking?

A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes because there’s a decent amount of walking involved at Muir Woods. Casual, breathable clothes are best since it can get cool among the trees. And don't forget a hat or sunscreen if it’s sunny!

Q: Is this tour good for kids? What age range is best?

A: Yeah, this tour is great for kids! The audio tour at Alcatraz is pretty engaging, and Muir Woods is like a giant natural playground. Just be sure your kids can handle some walking. I’d say 8 and up is a good range, but younger kids will enjoy it too if they’re up for the hike.

Just got back from the Alcatraz & Muir Woods tour - amazing!

I did the Alcatraz and Muir Woods tour last weekend and wow, it was fantastic! The ferry ride to Alcatraz was smooth, and the audio tour was so interesting. I loved hearing the stories from the inmates. Muir Woods was out of this world too - those redwoods are massive! We had enough time to stroll around and take photos. If you’re thinking about this as a gift, I highly recommend it!
