Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the backcountry fishing charter in Key West?

A: There's no strict age limit for the fishing charter, but they do recommend that kids be at least 8 years old for safety and enjoyment. The captain is great with kids and can help them get involved with fishing techniques. Just make sure they’re comfortable being out on the water for a full day!

Q: What should we wear for a day on the backcountry fishing charter?

A: Dress in lightweight, breathable clothing, and don’t forget your swimwear! It can get hot out there, so long sleeves can help with sun protection. Good water shoes are a must, and a hat and polarized sunglasses will really help with glare. Also, pack a light jacket in case it gets breezy.

Q: What happens if the weather turns bad on our fishing charter?

A: The captain monitors the weather closely. If conditions look unsafe, they’ll reschedule your trip to a different day without any extra cost. It’s better to be safe, and they’ll work with you to find a suitable time. Just keep an eye on the forecast as your trip approaches!

Just booked a backcountry fishing charter in Key West!

I’m so excited! I booked the full-day backcountry fishing charter with Recon Sportfishing for my husband’s birthday. It's 8 hours and they say the captain can take us to the Marquesas Keys if the fish are biting there. I hope he catches something big! Anyone have tips or must-dos for this experience?

My backcountry fishing trip was a blast!

Just got back from the full-day charter and it was amazing! We caught some snook and even saw dolphins swimming alongside the boat. The captain was super chill and really knew his stuff. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an awesome fishing day in Key West!
