Q&A

Q: Can we reschedule the Mount Vernon tour if something comes up?

A: Yes! They have a really flexible rescheduling policy. Just make sure to give them at least 48 hours' notice, and you should be good to go. It can be a bit stressful planning, but they’re pretty accommodating.

Q: What's the age limit for kids on the private tour? Thinking of gifting this to my 10-year-old.

A: There's no strict age limit! Kids of all ages can join the tour, and it’s a great educational experience. Just keep in mind that younger kids might enjoy it more if they’re a bit interested in history.

Q: What should we wear for the tour, and is there a lot of walking involved?

A: Comfortable shoes are a must! You’ll be walking around the mansion and the grounds, and it can get a bit uneven in places. Dress for the weather, but layers are a good idea if you're not sure—it can get warm in the mansion but cooler outside.

I’m really excited about the George Washington's Mount Vernon Private Guided Tour! I think my friend would love getting a behind-the-scenes look at the mansion and especially laying a wreath at the Washington family tomb. Has anyone actually done this? What was the highlight for you? Was the guide knowledgeable?

Anyone done the Mount Vernon tour recently? What to expect!

I’m considering booking this for my parents’ anniversary. I love the idea of the private tour since they enjoy history. What’s it like? Are the gardens as nice as they say? Gonna be an unforgettable gift, I hope!
