Q&A
A: Definitely wear layers! Fairbanks can be chilly, especially in the morning, but it warms up. Sturdy shoes are a must since you’ll be walking around the dredge and panning for gold. A light jacket is also a good idea since some parts are outdoors. Also, don’t forget sunscreen if it’s sunny!
A: The tour lasts about 2-3 hours, depending on how much time you spend panning for gold. It's great for kids! They love the train ride and get a kick out of finding gold. Just check the age limits if you’re bringing really young ones, but I've seen kids as young as 5 having a blast there.
A: Yes, you can reschedule, but it’s best to give them a call as soon as you know. They’re really accommodating but it depends on availability. Just make sure to check their policy when you book, since it can vary a bit.

Thinking of gifting the Gold Dredge 8 tour!
Hey everyone! I’m considering getting the Gold Dredge 8 tour for my dad’s birthday. He loves history and I think he’d enjoy the stories about the gold rush while panning for gold. I’m a bit worried about how the weather will be in September though. Has anyone done this recently? What was it like?
Just got back from Gold Dredge 8, and wow!
I just did the Gold Dredge 8 tour last week and it was awesome! The train ride was super fun, and panning for gold was a highlight for sure. My kids found some real flakes! The cookies at the gift shop were the cherry on top. If you’re on the fence, just go for it. You won’t regret it!
