Q&A

Q: What’s the age limit for this hike? Can I take my 10-year-old with me?

A: The South Kaibab hike is generally recommended for kids aged 12 and up due to the trail's steep sections and elevation changes. However, if your 10-year-old is an experienced hiker and can handle physical challenges, you might be able to take them along. Just check with the provider first to see if they can accommodate younger kids on your specific date!

Q: How difficult is the South Kaibab Trail? I’m not a super experienced hiker.

A: The South Kaibab Trail is challenging, but it's doable for most people with a moderate fitness level. It’s about 6 miles one way to Cedar Ridge, and while it’s steep, you’ll have plenty of breaks and snacks. Just be sure to wear good hiking shoes and stay hydrated. Trust the guides; they’ll keep you safe and motivated!

Q: What should I wear for the hike? Any specific recommendations?

A: Definitely wear moisture-wicking clothes, and don’t forget a good hat and sunscreen! The sun can be pretty intense, especially at higher elevations. Sturdy hiking boots are a must since some parts can be rocky. Layers are important too, as weather can change quickly, especially in the morning and evening.

Thinking of gifting the South Kaibab hike!

Hey everyone! I’m considering gifting the South Kaibab Day Hike for my uncle’s birthday. He loves nature but hasn’t hiked in a while. I’m worried about whether he’ll find it too challenging or if he’ll enjoy the views. Has anyone done this? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Just got back from the South Kaibab hike!

Oh my gosh, you guys, I just did the South Kaibab Day Hike last weekend and it was unreal! The guides were amazing and the views were breathtaking at every turn. We had lunch at Cedar Ridge, which was a perfect spot. Bring plenty of water and some good snacks because you'll need the energy. Highly recommend it for anyone considering it as a gift or just for themselves!
