Q&A
A: Yes, there is a minimum age of 2 years for the helicopter tour. As for weight limits, individual weight can't exceed 300 lbs and combined weight restrictions are in place for safety. If you have a child under 2, they can fly as a lap child, but it’s best to call ahead if you have concerns.
A: The best time is typically in spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). The weather is mild, plus you’ll avoid the summer heat and crowds. However, if you want to see the canyon with some snow, winter can be magical but expect cooler temps.
A: You’ll want to set aside at least 4-5 hours for the whole tour. The helicopter ride itself is about 30-45 minutes each way, plus time for the boat ride and Skywalk. Don't forget to account for hotel transfers if you selected that option. It goes by fast, but you’ll love every minute!

Just got back from the Grand Canyon helicopter tour! Here’s my experience!
I just did the Grand Canyon West Helicopter Tour last week and it was absolutely amazing! The views from the helicopter were breathtaking, especially the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Landing at the canyon floor for the boat ride was so peaceful, and the Skywalk? Wow! I felt like I was walking on air. For anyone considering this as a gift, it’s totally worth it! Definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes since you’ll be walking around a bit.
Considering the helicopter tour as a gift for my parents
Thinking about gifting my parents the Grand Canyon West Helicopter Tour with the Skywalk and boat ride. They’re in their late 50s and love nature but haven’t done anything like this before. Any tips on the experience? What do you think they’d enjoy the most?
