Greenwich Village has long been one of New York’s signature neighborhoods, full of winding streets, gorgeous tree lined blocks, and an amazing array of characters who have called it home over the years. Starting in Washington Square Park and meandering through the West Village, this tour touches on the artistic, political and popular history of the area, including its famous role as the creative playground for many generations of bohemians. We focus on telling great stories and making our tours like being shown around by an (exceptionally well-informed) friend. Educational and entertaining, this tour will show you why The Village is a place that has drawn people to it for generations.

Q&A

Q: Is there a minimum age for this walking tour? I'm thinking about taking my 12-year-old niece.

A: There’s no official age limit for the Greenwich Village Walking Tour! It’s family-friendly, but keep in mind that some of the stories might be more suitable for older kids. My 13-year-old loved it, but I wouldn’t recommend it for really young kids who might get bored. Just be ready for some walking! Also, check if the tour provider has any special guidelines.

Q: Can this tour be rescheduled if I can’t make it on the original date?

A: Yes! True Tales of NYC Walking Tours allows you to reschedule as long as you give them at least 24 hours notice. Just reach out to them directly via email. I had to reschedule due to rain once and it was no problem at all!

Q: What should I wear for the walking tour? Any tips?

A: Wear comfy shoes for sure! You’ll be walking a lot through the West Village. Dress in layers since it can get cool in the shade. I wore a light jacket, and it worked great. Also, check the weather – I brought a little umbrella just in case!

Just did the Greenwich Village Walking Tour and it was amazing!

I took the Greenwich Village Walking Tour last week and wow, it exceeded my expectations! Starting at Washington Square Park, our guide had these incredible stories about the area's history, especially around the bohemian culture. The streets are so beautiful, lined with trees! I highly recommend it if you’re into artsy stuff or even just want to stroll around a unique part of NYC. Such a great gift idea for my friend who's visiting next month!

Thinking about gifting the Greenwich Village tour to my sister - any advice?

I found this Greenwich Village Walking Tour and think it’d be a great gift for my sister who loves history and art! But I’m a bit nervous about how she’ll like the stories. Anyone have any insights on the tour guide and the type of stories they tell? I want it to be a hit!
