Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Grewingk Glacier hike? Can kids join?

A: Kids can definitely join! It's listed as an easy-moderate hike, so as long as they're physically active and can handle some uneven terrain, they should be fine. Just keep an eye on them, especially around the stream crossings. It’s a beautiful experience for all ages!

Q: What should we wear for the Grewingk Glacier hike? Is it really cold up there?

A: Layering is key! The weather can change quickly in Alaska, so I suggest wearing moisture-wicking base layers, a good insulated jacket, and waterproof pants. Don’t forget sturdy hiking boots. Even in summer, the glacier can be chilly, so be prepared for that.

Q: How long does the hike usually take? Is it easy to find parking?

A: The hike usually takes about 4-6 hours round trip, depending on how fast you go and how often you stop to enjoy the scenery. Parking is available at the trailhead, but it can fill up quickly on weekends, so it’s best to get there early. Bring some water and snacks for the trek!

Just did the Grewingk Glacier hike—amazing experience!

I can't recommend the Grewingk Glacier hike enough! The views were absolutely stunning, especially when we finally reached the glacier. The turquoise color was like nothing I’ve ever seen. We were lucky and spotted a couple of eagles along the way, too. Definitely wear good hiking boots and bring some snacks! We did it in about 5 hours with a few breaks. Perfect for a day out in nature!

Considering gifting the Grewingk Glacier hike experience—feedback?

I'm thinking about getting this hike for my brother's birthday. He's super into hiking but hasn’t done much in Alaska. Is this a good choice? I want him to have an epic time! Any advice would be great!
