Q&A

Q: What if the weather's bad on the day of the lesson? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather isn't cooperating, Surf Club Maui will typically offer to reschedule your lesson to a later date. They’re really great about working with you on this! Just make sure to check the forecast a day or two before your lesson. It's Maui, so conditions can change fast!

Q: Is there an age limit for the group lessons?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but they usually recommend kids be at least 8 years old to participate. Since you have to be able to swim in deep water, younger kids might struggle. Best to call them if you’re unsure about specific ages!

Q: What should I wear to the surf lesson? Any recommendations?

A: You’ll want to wear a swimsuit and maybe a rash guard for sun protection. They provide all the equipment like boards, so just bring a towel and some sunscreen. Water shoes are a good idea too if you don’t want to go barefoot on the sand!

Just booked a group surf lesson at Kalama Beach!

I'm so excited! I got this for my partner’s birthday. I've heard that Kalama Beach is perfect for beginners with those gentle waves. The small class size is a huge plus. Just hoping we can catch some good waves! Has anyone else done it? What was your experience like?

Looking for tips for my first surf lesson at Kalama Beach!

I’m going to Kalama Beach next week for my first surf lesson. I’m a bit nervous since I’ve never surfed before and don’t want to wipe out too much. Any tips or gear suggestions? What if I struggle to get up?
