Begin your adventure with a beginner-friendly hike through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As you walk, your guide will share fascinating stories about the park's history and help you identify plants, including those used by the Cherokee for medicinal purposes. After the hike, set up your painting station and learn to capture the beauty of your surroundings with acrylic paint. Whether it’s a waterfall, a historic cabin, the "troll" bridge, or a sunset vista, your guide will lead you through a step-by-step painting lesson suitable for beginners or the experienced painter. Depending on the time of year, we can try to find elk in North Carolina or witness the magic of rare synchronous lightning bugs. With all painting supplies provided and a forgiving medium like acrylic paint, you can relax and enjoy the creative process.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this guided art hike? Can kids join?

A: Great question! Kids are definitely welcome on the guided hikes. The experience is designed to be family-friendly. Just keep in mind that younger kids might need some help with the painting part, but the guides are super patient and great with kids!

Q: What happens if the weather's bad on the day of our hike?

A: If the weather doesn't cooperate, the team at Mountain Mama’s Art & Adventure will work with you to reschedule for another day. Safety and enjoyment are their top priorities! Just keep an eye on the weather forecast and be ready to adapt.

Q: What should I wear for the hike and painting session?

A: Comfortable hiking shoes are a must! You’ll be walking for a bit, and you want to be prepared for uneven terrain. Also, wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint on. The aprons help, but accidents can happen! Layering is key too, as it can be chilly in the mountains.

Just got back from the Guided Art Adventure Hike – wow!

I did the guided art hike last weekend in the Smokies, and it was such a blast! Our guide was super knowledgeable about the plants and history of the area. The painting part was so relaxing, and I actually created something I liked! We even saw some elk in the distance. Definitely recommend it as a gift for anyone who loves nature or art!

Thinking of gifting the Guided Art Adventure – any tips?

I'm considering this for my sister's birthday. She's not super outdoorsy, but loves painting. I just want to know if it’s really beginner-friendly and if the hike is manageable. Any advice would be appreciated!
