Not only are 20- and 30-pound catches a fairly regular occurrence, but you will gain a whole new perspective of the Potomac River, its local history going back over four centuries, and the ecology of the river ecosystem. Capital Blues is a fully licensed and insured business and Captain Owen is a certified Coast Guard Captain. We will be fishing from a 18 foot pontoon boat, allowing us to reach more areas of the river and accommodate more passengers with a larger deck layout than most fishing boats. Q: Is there an age limit for kids on the fishing charter?

A: There's no strict age limit, but Captain Owen welcomes kids of all ages. It's a great way to introduce them to fishing! Just make sure they can follow instructions and are comfortable on a boat. Also, life jackets are provided!

Q: Can we bring our own snacks or drinks on the charter?

A: Absolutely! You're welcome to bring snacks and drinks, but remember to keep it light and avoid glass containers. Captain Owen usually has bottled water, but feel free to pack your favorite treats!

Q: What should we wear for the fishing trip? Any tips on clothing?

A: Dress in layers! Mornings can be chilly, especially on the water. Wear comfortable shoes that can get wet and maybe a hat for sun protection. Also, don’t forget sunscreen!

Just got back from the fishing charter with Captain Owen!

Wow, what an experience! We took the guided fishing charter on the Potomac last weekend, and it was epic. Captain Owen is super chill and knows exactly where to find the big fish. We caught a couple of 25-pound catfish! The scenery was gorgeous, too. Plus, the 18-foot pontoon boat was super comfortable. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to do something unique in DC!
