Q&A
A: I'd recommend wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes since you'll be on horses. Layers are a good idea too because the temperature can change quickly as you go up the mountain. If it's rainy, they do provide ponchos, but it's still good to wear something you don't mind getting a little muddy!
A: The ride is suitable for all skill levels, so beginners are welcome! Kids around 8 years and older can usually join, but it’s best to check directly with Arrowmont Stables for specific age policies. They’ll pair you with a horse appropriate for your experience level!
A: They provide ponchos or raincoats if there's light rain, but if it’s really bad—a storm or heavy rain—they may reschedule your ride. I’d suggest calling them ahead of time to confirm their policy and see how the weather looks as your date approaches.

Just got back from the guided horseback ride in Asheville!
OMG, I just did the Flame Azalea and Fern Forest ride yesterday and it was incredible! The views at the top are breathtaking, especially with all the wild azaleas blooming. The trail was fun and the guide was super friendly, really helped to ease my nerves since I’m not a pro rider. Plus, they provided cool helmets and even ponchos when it started drizzling. Definitely a must-do for any nature lover!
Thinking of gifting the horse ride experience for my sister's birthday!
Hey everyone, I'm considering getting the horseback ride through the Flame Azalea and Fern Forest for my sister. She loves nature and has always wanted to go horseback riding. Has anyone done this? What's the best time of year to go? I want her to have the best experience!
