Enjoy a close, personal encounter with the West Indian Manatee as you snorkel with them under the guidance of a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain. Our small group (no more than six guests) tours are conducted daily in the beautiful Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. Get up close and personal with these amazing mammals and learn about the ecosystem and their habitat.  Unlike many tours, these Captains will actually swim with you and your group to ensure that you have a memorable experience. While in the water, your captain/tour guide will take high-definition photos and videos of you and your group which you will be able to view and purchase at the end of your trip.  Your price includes all snorkeling equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit) and complimentary coffee or hot cocoa.

Q: Is there an age limit for this snorkeling tour?

A: Yes, there is an age limit. Kids must be at least 5 years old to participate, and minors need to be accompanied by an adult. It's a great family experience, but keep in mind that younger kids may need a little encouragement to snorkel. The guides are super helpful though!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our tour?

A: If the weather is unsafe for snorkeling, the tour company will reschedule your trip. They'll contact you as soon as they can to offer new dates. I've heard they’re super flexible and accommodating about it, so you should be fine!

Q: What should I wear for the manatee snorkeling tour?

A: Wear a swimsuit under your wetsuit for sure! They provide wetsuits, but your suit underneath will keep you comfortable. Water shoes are also a good idea, especially on the rocks. Don’t forget sunscreen that's reef-safe, and maybe a hat for while you're on the boat.

I’m so excited! I just booked the guided small group manatee snorkeling tour in Crystal River with Gulf Coast Expeditions for next month. I’ve heard it’s a small group, which is great since I hate crowded tours. I’m curious if anyone has done this and what to expect! Should I bring snacks or anything?

Manatee snorkeling was AMAZING!

Wow, I just got back from the manatee snorkeling tour and it was everything I hoped for! We saw so many manatees up close and the in-water photographer took the best pics of us. It was so surreal swimming with those gentle giants. Definitely recommend it to anyone considering it as a gift!
