Q&A
A: Kids are welcome on the tour! There isn't a strict age limit, but keep in mind that some parts of the historical narrative might be more suited for older kids or adults. Just make sure your child is interested in history; otherwise, they might get a little restless during the ride. Overall, it can be a fun learning experience for the whole family!
A: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, they’ll typically reschedule your tour for a later date. Just be sure to check their cancellation policy when you book. It's always a good idea to call ahead if you’re concerned about a storm or heavy rain. They want you to enjoy the experience as much as possible!
A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes! You’ll be doing some walking around Virginia City, and you want to be ready for cobblestone streets and possibly uneven terrain. Sneakers or sturdy walking shoes are best. You might be tempted to dress up, but comfort should come first!

Thinking about getting the tour for my dad’s birthday!
I found this guided tour to Virginia City and Carson City from South Lake Tahoe and it looks super interesting! The history part with the Pony Express Trail really catches my eye. Has anyone done this? I’m thinking of getting it for my dad since he loves Mark Twain and all that stuff. What’s the experience like? Is it suitable for someone in their late 60s?
Awesome tour! Just got back from Virginia City!
I recently took the guided tour from South Lake Tahoe, and wow, what an experience! The drive along the Pony Express Trail was beautiful, and learning about the Comstock Lode was a highlight. The Way it was museum is also a must-see. Highly recommend if you’re into history or just want a fun day trip. Overall, it’s worth every penny (even if it says $0.00).
