This beach nestled in the warm coastlines of Puna is unique with its combinations of black and white sand and underbelly of fresh water springs bubbling into the ocean. This experience will guide you through the forest and ocean cliffs as you learn about endemic plants, geology, marine biology, and historical accounts connected to Hāʻena. Once arrived to Hāʻena we will enjoy the cold crystal clear waters and swim across the bay to visit a Punawai spring! :)

Q: Is there an age limit for this hike and swim experience? I'm thinking of gifting it to my teenage niece.

A: Great question! There isn't a strict age limit, but the hike can be a bit rugged and slippery in parts, so I'd recommend it for ages 12 and up. Just make sure your niece is comfortable with hiking and swimming in open water. The guides are super friendly and accommodating, so they'll make sure everyone stays safe!

Hey everyone! I’m considering getting the Haena Hike and Swim with Native Hawaiian experience for my parents' anniversary. They love the outdoors but aren’t super experienced hikers. I read that it's suitable for various skill levels, which is good. Also, how's the water? Are there any safety concerns? They’re not the strongest swimmers.

Wow! I just got back from the Haena Hike and Swim and it was incredible! The scenery was breathtaking, especially the black and white sand. The swim to the Punawai spring was refreshing. Highly recommend it to anyone considering! Just prepare for some steep trails but it's so worth it.
