Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids to join the Half Day Family Paddle and Hike?

A: Great question! Generally, kids should be at least 5 years old to participate in the kayaking part. The guides are experienced with young children, but it’s helpful if they can listen and follow basic instructions. Just make sure they’re comfortable in the water and excited about the adventure!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day we’re scheduled?

A: If the weather isn’t safe for kayaking, the experience can typically be rescheduled. Outdoor Odysseys prioritizes safety, so they’ll keep in touch about any changes. It’s a good idea to check beforehand and maybe have a backup plan just in case!

Q: Do I need to bring my own lunch or is it provided?

A: Lunch is included in the package! Outdoor Odysseys provides a meal prepared fresh for the group, which is great because you can just focus on the fun. They usually have some kid-friendly options too!

Thinking about the Half Day Family Paddle and Hike - anyone tried it?

I’m considering gifting the Half Day Family Paddle and Hike experience in the San Juan Islands. My kids are 7 and 10, and I think this could be a fun outdoor adventure for them! What can I expect? Is it mostly beginner-friendly? Also, do they really prepare lunch? How about the hiking part?

Half Day Family Paddle and Hike - any tips?

I just booked the Half Day Family Paddle and Hike for my family! I’m super excited but a little nervous. What should we wear? And like, how strenuous is the hike? I want to make sure my kids can handle it.
