Explore the National Elk Refuge, home to thousands of wintering elk, hundreds of bison, bighorn sheep and an array of bird life before heading into Grand Teton National Park. Jackson Hole’s wintering wildlife is abundant with opportunities to see bison, elk, deer, moose, fox, coyote, bald eagle, trumpeter swans, and if we’re lucky, wolves. If time allows we might also choose to stop at the Jackson Hole Visitor Center or the new Moose visitor center in Grand Teton National Park. The guides at Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris will make every effort to showcase as many highlights as possible, and will structure the day around making your experience a memorable one. They will take current road conditions, weather, seasonality, and your personal interests into consideration as they move through the park.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this wildlife safari tour?

A: There isn't a strict age limit for the Grand Teton Wildlife Safari, but I definitely recommend it for kids aged 5 and up. The guides are great at engaging younger ones, and the binoculars really keep them interested. Just keep in mind that this is a private tour, so you can tailor the experience to your family's needs!

Q: What should we wear for the Half-Day Grand Teton Wildlife Private Safari Tour?

A: Dress in layers! Mornings can be chilly, especially from late fall to early spring. I suggest wearing a warm jacket, comfortable shoes for walking, and definitely a hat and gloves if it's winter. Also, sunglasses are a must if it’s sunny out since you’ll be in the open. The guides provide snacks and drinks, so no need to overpack!

Q: How does rescheduling work if the weather is bad?

A: Great question! If the weather conditions are unsafe for travel, Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris will contact you to reschedule. I’ve heard they’re really accommodating, so it's best to call them directly for any concerns. Just keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your tour!

Just did the Half-Day Grand Teton Wildlife Private Safari Tour and it was AMAZING!

I went on this tour last week and I’m still buzzing from it! We saw tons of elk and bison, and our guide was so knowledgeable. The light breakfast and drinks were a nice touch too. Best of all, we even spotted a bald eagle! 😍 Definitely worth the money, in my opinion. I highly recommend bringing a good camera—so many photo ops!

Thinking of gifting the wildlife safari tour—any tips?

I’m considering this for my dad’s birthday. He loves nature and wildlife! I just want to make sure it’s a good fit for him. Is the tour too tough for older folks? What was the vibe like on your tours?
