Explore the National Elk Refuge, home to thousands of wintering elk, hundreds of bison, bighorn sheep and an array of bird life before venturing into Grand Teton National Park. Jackson Hole’s wintering wildlife is abundant with opportunities to see bison, elk, deer, moose, fox, coyote, bald eagle, trumpeter swans, and if we’re lucky, wolves. If time allows we might also choose to stop at the Jackson Hole Visitor Center or the new Moose visitor center in Grand Teton National Park. The guides at Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris will make every effort to showcase as many highlights as possible, and will structure the day around making your experience a memorable one. They will take current road conditions, weather, seasonality, and your personal interests into consideration as they move through the park.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids to join this wildlife safari tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but they recommend kids should be at least 6 years old to enjoy the experience. The tour can be a bit long for younger kids. Make sure they can sit quietly and stay engaged for a few hours. Also, check with the provider if you have younger ones; they’re usually pretty accommodating.

Q: What should we wear for this tour in the winter? Any specific recommendations?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get pretty cold, especially if you're outside spotting wildlife. Wear a good winter coat, insulated boots, and don't forget gloves and a hat. The tour has some heated space in the vehicle, but you'll want to be warm for any stops.

Q: Can we reschedule if the weather is bad?

A: Yes, you can reschedule if weather conditions aren’t safe for sightseeing. The company will contact you in case of cancellations. They’re pretty flexible and want to make sure you have the best experience possible. Just make sure to check their policies for specifics.

Just did the Grand Teton Wildlife Safari and it was AMAZING!

I went on this half-day tour last week in Jackson and wow, what an experience! We saw so many elk and bison, and the guide was super knowledgeable about the animals. The breakfast they provided was a nice touch too. Just a heads up, wear layers because you can get cold quickly! Highly recommend it as a gift for wildlife lovers.

Looking to gift the Wildlife Safari, any tips?

I'm thinking of getting this wildlife safari for my parents who love nature. I’m a little worried about whether they’ll be comfortable in the cold since it’s winter. Does anyone have tips for making it easier for them? Also, what's the parking situation like?
