Your guide will lead you around the shoreline where there are many geothermal features on land and under water that we’ll explore from our kayaks. Then, we will return the way we came, following the shoreline and watching the wildlife as we casually make our way back to Grant Village. Paddling away from the crowds in the west thumb of the lake, we teach you how to safely and properly control your kayak so you are able to relax and take in all of the natural beauty of Yellowstone. We always stay in small groups to make sure you get the most information and best access to this incredible area, and to ensure safety throughout each trip. Ages 12 and under are required to be in a tandem kayak with an adult, and we take kids as young as 5 regularly. We have both single and double kayaks available for everyone to enjoy and absolutely no prior kayaking experience is required.

Q: What should we wear for the paddle on Yellowstone Lake? Is it chilly in the morning?

A: Definitely dress in layers! Mornings can be chilly, especially near the water, so a light jacket or sweater is a good idea. Quick-dry clothing works best since you might get splashed. Also, don't forget sunscreen and a hat because the sun can be pretty strong once it heats up.

Q: Can kids participate? What's the age limit for the kayaks?

A: Yes, kids are more than welcome! They can join as young as 5 years old in tandem kayaks with an adult. Just make sure they’re comfortable in the water. It's a fun family activity!

Q: What if the weather turns bad? Do they cancel the trip?

A: If the weather's too rough, they will reschedule or cancel for safety. They usually contact you ahead of time if there’s a significant weather threat. Just make sure to check your email the day before!

Wow, just came back from the paddle on Yellowstone Lake and it was beyond expectations! The geothermal features were fascinating to see from the kayak, and we spotted a couple of eagles. Our guide was super knowledgeable and made it fun. Highly recommend it as a gift for anyone who enjoys nature!
