We provide a great experience fishing for Alaska halibut. During your fishing trip there is a good chance to see whales and other sea life. This years Regulation for 2025 from the department of fish and give 1. one halibut charter trip a day 2. The slot limit is 37 inches and below and 80 inches above. 3. and starting May 13 - Sept 9th there is no retention on all Tuesdays, which means we can fish but we can not keep any halibut.

The tour provides light rain gear, but having a warm layer underneath is always a good idea. Comfortable shoes are a must too since the deck can be slippery.

Q: What if the weather's bad? Can we reschedule our trip?

A: If the weather doesn't cooperate, the charter will reschedule you for another day. They keep a close eye on conditions since safety is a priority. It’s best to contact them a day or two before your trip to confirm the weather, or you might be able to get a last-minute reschedule.

I'm considering getting my dad a halibut fishing charter for his birthday. He loves fishing and I heard Wooshkeetaan Tours does a great job! I've read that there's a chance to see whales too, which would be awesome. Just wondering if anyone has gone and what the experience was like. Also, how's the availability during peak season?

Wow, I just came back from the halibut fishing charter in Hoonah and I can't recommend it enough! The crew was fantastic, and we did see whales! Caught a couple of halibuts too, although one was just over the limit. The snacks were a nice touch. If you're on the fence about this as a gift, just go for it!
