Q&A

Q: What should I wear to the cooking class? Is it messy?

A: I went last month and wore a casual top and jeans, which was perfect! It can get a little messy with flour and sauces, so maybe avoid anything super fancy. They provide aprons, but I’d suggest wearing something you don’t mind getting a bit stained. Also, the kitchen can get hot, so breathable fabrics are a good idea.

Q: Can I reschedule if something comes up? How flexible are they?

A: Yes, you can reschedule! They’re pretty accommodating. Just give them a call as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it, and they’ll help you find another class that works. Just note, if it’s last minute, it might depend on availability.

Q: Is this class suitable for kids? What’s the age limit?

A: The class is great for older kids! They recommend ages 12 and up since there’s some knife work involved. My teenage daughter loved it! Just check with them when booking to make sure there’s availability for younger folks if that's who you're bringing.

Just took the Cajun Roux Cooking Class in NOLA – Amazing Experience!

I just got back from the Cajun Roux cooking class at the Mardi Gras School of Cooking, and wow, what a night! It's located right in the French Quarter and felt more like a dinner party than a class. The chefs were hilarious and super helpful. We made a shrimp gumbo from scratch, and the food was incredible. I can't recommend it enough, especially if you're looking for a unique gift or just want to learn some cooking skills in a fun atmosphere.

Looking to gift a fun experience - Any thoughts on the cooking class?

I'm considering the Cajun Roux cooking class for my partner's birthday. We're both foodies and love trying new things. I saw it’s pretty affordable, but is it worth it? Also, how's the parking situation in the French Quarter? I don't want to deal with a headache on the big day!
