Enjoy the darker side of Memphis and hear tales of the city's haunted heritage as told by professional storytellers. The city’s South Main Historic District – an eclectic, colorful area with some of the city’s oldest buildings – has a long history of sensational murders and ghostly activity. On this 90-minute outdoor walking tour, you'll visit a number of haunted sites, including: • The Orpheum Theater, home of "Mary," who has haunted performances since 1921 • The John Alexander Austin House, a Victorian era mansion haunted by star-crossed lovers • The notorious Ernestine & Hazel's, a former brothel long recognized as one of the most haunted buildings in Memphis. We'll take you inside this creepy establishment (Wednesday-Sunday ONLY), home to several ghosts as well as a haunted jukebox.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for the Haunted Memphis Walking Ghost Tour?

A: The tour is suitable for all ages, but I’d recommend it for kids over 10. They might appreciate the spooky stories more! Just keep in mind that it can get a bit dark in some areas, so you might want to bring a flashlight. If you’re taking little ones, maybe skip the parts about the haunted brothel.

Q: Can you reschedule if the weather's bad?

A: Yes, if the weather is really bad, they’ll let you reschedule. They usually make the call a few hours before the tour starts. Just make sure you keep an eye on the forecast. The tour goes rain or shine, but if it’s stormy, they won’t take you out.

Q: What should I wear for the Haunted Memphis Walking Ghost Tour?

A: Comfortable shoes are a must since it’s a walking tour! The South Main district can have uneven pavement sometimes. Dress for the weather, too. If it’s chilly, layers are great. You’ll want to be warm but also not too bulky to walk around easily.
