Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the surf lessons?

A: Yes, generally the surf lessons are suitable for ages 6 and up. Younger kids usually can participate as long as they are comfortable in the water and have an adult with them. For anyone under 12, it's recommended to have private lessons to ensure they get the individual attention and safety they need. You can always check with the school directly for any specific concerns.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the lesson?

A: If the weather isn't safe for surfing, the school will usually reach out to reschedule your lesson. They try to give as much notice as possible and have flexible options for making it up. It’s always a good idea to keep your schedule a bit open just in case!

Q: What should I wear for the surf lessons?

A: It's best to wear a swimsuit and maybe a rash guard if you have one. The instructors usually provide surfboards, and they recommend wearing sunscreen, of course! If it's cooler, you might want to bring a light wetsuit, but usually, a swimsuit is fine for the Oahu weather. Just make sure you’re comfortable!

Thinking about gifting Hawaiian surfing lessons!

I’m looking to give my boyfriend a special gift for his birthday, and I found these Hawaiian surfing lessons at Hawaiian Boy Surf School in Waikiki. It sounds amazing and really rooted in local culture! I love that they'll teach him traditional surf etiquette along with the skills. But I’m a bit nervous since he’s never surfed before. Any tips or experiences?

Just did the surfing lessons in Oahu—totally worth it!

I recently went to the Hawaiian Boy Surf School for a surfing lesson and wow, what an experience! The instructors were so friendly and shared so much about the history of surfing in Hawaii. I felt like I learned way more than just how to catch a wave! Highly recommend it to anyone, and I got to meet some great people. Plus, Waikiki is just stunning. Don’t forget your sunscreen!
