Q&A
A: The minimum age for the helicopter glacier ice climbing tour is 12, but all participants under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult. There’s no maximum age limit as long as you’re in reasonable physical shape since it can be quite strenuous. Just make sure everyone is ready for some real climbing!
A: Definitely dress in layers! It can be chilly up there, even in summer. The guides provide jackets and pants but you should wear thermal base layers and waterproof gloves. Don’t forget a warm hat! It’s all about keeping your core warm while being active.
A: Yes, weather can affect the tour since safety is a top priority. If your tour gets canceled, NorthStar Trekking will contact you directly to reschedule. They tend to be pretty flexible, so you can usually find another day that works for you.

Thinking about gifting the Helicopter Glacier Ice Climbing Tour!
I’m considering this experience for my husband’s birthday. He loves adventure and I've heard amazing things about the views from the helicopter! Has anyone done it? Is the ice climbing hard? I just want to make sure he's going to have an epic time. What should I know before I book?
Just did the Helicopter Glacier Ice Climbing Tour and it was AMAZING!
Wow, where do I start? The helicopter ride was surreal. Seeing the Tongass National Forest from above was worth every penny! The ice climbing was intense but our guides were super supportive and made it safe for everyone. I went with a friend and we had a blast! Highly recommend this for anyone looking for an adrenaline rush. Just be ready for a workout!
