Women make up half of this country, and yet are largely ignored when it comes to history books. This walking tour of historic Boston will tell you the stories of the incredible women who changed the course of Boston...and American history. From Puritan women who bravely stood up to the government, to the first female/Person of Color to be elected mayor of Boston, we will talk about the wild and wonderful women of Boston. The Women's History tour will be most entertaining for children over the age of 13, but children of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults are responsible for their own and their children's behavior and safety. This tour contains discussions of slavery and violence, so parental discretion is advised. Tours will run in light rain. We will cancel for unpleasant or unsafe weather conditions to ensure your safety and enjoyment of our tours. This tour requires at least three guests to operate.

Q&A

Q: Is this tour suitable for younger kids, or just teens and adults?

A: The tour is designed for kids over 13 due to some heavier topics, but younger kids can attend if accompanied by an adult. Just keep in mind the discussions around slavery and violence—so it might not be for really young ones. If your kids are mature enough, it could be a great way to teach them about women’s history!

Q: How do they handle cancellations due to weather? Do we get notified?

A: They run the tours in light rain, but will cancel if conditions are unsafe. You'll be notified via email or text if there’s a cancellation. They’re really good about keeping you updated, so no worries there!

Q: What's the best way to get to the tour starting point in Boston? Is parking tough?

A: The tour usually starts near Boston Common, which has several parking garages nearby. Street parking can be tricky, especially on weekends, so I suggest using a garage or taking the T if you can. It’s easier and avoids the hassle!
