Please note: this walk is not at all strenuous. Obviously there's some stairs but this is done at a leisurely pace and suitable for almost everyone. This breathtaking 2 mile walking tour of San Francisco's hidden stairways is the #1 rated Airbnb Experience in the Bay Area. See gorgeous mosaic tiled steps and hear the stories behind them, then take in stunning 360° views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park and downtown San Francisco. You'll also discover beautiful neighborhoods and gardens that tourists rarely see...you might even go home with a succulent! I'll provide commentary, context and some history along the way. Generally SF is dry May-October. There can be fog in the summertime, mostly in the morning. Temps rarely above 70F (21C) or below 50F (10C). Rain may cancel. Q&A

Q: Is this walking tour good for kids or seniors?

A: Absolutely! The Hidden Stairways tour is designed to be leisurely, so it's suitable for both kids and seniors. There's a bit of stair climbing, but it's not strenuous at all. Plus, the guide makes it really engaging with fun stories about the neighborhoods and stairs you're seeing. Just make sure everyone is comfortable walking a couple of miles at a relaxed pace!

Q: What should I wear for the Hidden Stairways tour?

A: Dress comfortably! I'd recommend wearing some good walking shoes since you’ll be on stairs and uneven pavement. Layers are also a good idea because it can get a bit chilly, especially if there's fog. I've done the tour in both shorts and a light jacket and felt good the whole time!

Q: How do weather cancellations work?

A: If it rains, the tour will likely be canceled for safety reasons. The guide, Gregory, is really good at notifying you in advance if the weather's looking bad. If it's canceled, you can usually reschedule for another date or get a refund. Just keep an eye on the forecasts, especially in the foggy summer months!
