Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this walking tour?

A: There's no strict age limit, but I’d say it’s best for kids 8 and up. The tour lasts about 2 hours, which might be a bit long for younger ones. It’s pretty engaging with all the stories, though! Just make sure they can handle some walking.

Q: What should we wear for the walking tour?

A: Comfortable shoes are a must! You’ll be doing a lot of walking on cobblestone streets. Dress in layers since it can get warm, and don’t forget sunscreen! Also, bring some water to stay hydrated.

Q: What happens if it rains? Can the tour be rescheduled?

A: If it rains, they usually offer to reschedule to a different day. Just call ahead to confirm! I went on a day it drizzled a bit, and it was still enjoyable, but they do prefer clear skies for the full experience.

Just did the Highlights of Charleston Tour!

I recently took the Highlights of Charleston walking tour, and wow, it was amazing! Our guide was super knowledgeable and took us through the French Quarter and South of Broad. The antebellum mansions had me in awe, and hearing about the history made the city come alive. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to learn more about Charleston while walking around. It’s about a 2-hour tour, but you get a lot packed in there!

Looking for a unique gift? Think about this tour!

I’m considering gifting this walking tour to my parents for their anniversary. They love history and exploring new places. I read that the guides provide tips on other places to visit after the tour, which is a nice bonus. Has anyone done it recently? Any recommendations?
