Q&A
A: There isn't a strict age limit, but it's really best for kids 10 and up. The guides tailor the hike to the group's abilities, so younger kids can definitely join if they're up for it. Just keep in mind that the desert can be hot, so pack plenty of water and snacks, especially for younger ones.
A: Definitely wear breathable, moisture-wicking clothes! The desert can get hot, even in the morning. I'd recommend good hiking shoes for grip and comfort. And don't forget a hat and sunglasses to protect against the sun. Sunscreen is a must!
A: Yes! South West Guided Adventures is pretty flexible. Just reach out to them ahead of your scheduled hike, and they’ll help you find a new date that works. They understand plans can change, especially with the weather in Tucson.

Just got back from the Starr Pass hike - what a blast!
I took my partner on the Starr Pass hike last weekend, and we had an amazing time! The guides were super knowledgeable about the desert flora and even shared some fun history about Tucson. We got a little customized route since I was worried about my knees, and they set me up with poles. Totally worth it! If you're considering it as a gift, I highly recommend it!
Considering Starr Pass for my adventurous friend - any tips?
I’m looking for a unique gift for my friend who loves the outdoors. Any thoughts on the Starr Pass hike? Is it beginner-friendly? I just want to make sure they have a great time and that it’s not too tough. Would love to hear from anyone who’s gone!
