Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the hiking experience at Vermilion Cliffs?

A: There's no strict age limit for the hike! However, it can be challenging at times, so it's best for kids who are at least 10 years old and have some hiking experience. Just make sure they’re comfortable with variable terrain and can carry their own water. The scenery is totally worth it!

Q: What should I wear for the hike in Kanab, especially since it can get hot?

A: Dress in layers! It can be cool in the morning but gets hot quickly. Lightweight, moisture-wicking clothes are a must. Also, sturdy hiking shoes are essential for the rocky terrain. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen!

Q: How's the parking situation at the trailhead for the teepee hike?

A: Parking can be tricky since it's pretty remote. There’s a small parking area, but it fills up quickly on weekends. If you’re going, try to get there early to snag a spot. It’s worth the effort though for those views!

Thinking about gifting a hike to Vermilion Cliffs, has anyone done it?

I’m considering this hike in Kanab for my partner’s birthday. The teepees sound awesome and I love that it doesn’t require a permit! Just worried about how strenuous it might be. Any tips for first-timers? Also, is it crowded? We're planning on going in early October.

Just did the hike! It was incredible!

I went on the hike last weekend and wow, the scenery is breathtaking. The teepees were so cool, and I loved that we didn’t need a permit. The hike itself was a bit tough in spots, especially navigating the rocks, but totally worth it. Bring plenty of water! Anyone else have tips for the next time?
