Q&A
A: Yes, kids can definitely join this excursion! It's designed to be family-friendly, so as long as they’re able to hike a bit and enjoy nature, they’ll have a blast. Just keep in mind that some spots in the park might not be stroller-accessible due to uneven terrain. But overall, it's a great experience for families!
A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes since you'll be walking and exploring volcanic areas. I'd suggest breathable clothing since it can get warm, but also bring a light jacket for when you're near the steam vents. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen! And bring your refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
A: If the weather's bad, they typically reschedule your trip for another day. The team at Mauka Makai Adventures is pretty flexible, but it's always a good idea to check with them directly. Just keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your excursion!

Just Did the Hilo Shore Excursion and Wow!
OMG, we just got back from the Hilo Shore Excursion, and it was AMAZING! The lava tube was so cool, and seeing Kilauea erupt was just breathtaking. We also loved Rainbow Falls and the gardens. Our guide was super knowledgeable and fun! If you’re thinking about it as a gift, do it—totally worth it!
Thinking about gifting the Hilo Excursion!
I’m considering this for my parents' anniversary! They love nature and adventure. Can anyone share more about the food included and how long the trip actually is? I want to make sure they have a great time.
