Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this tour? I'm thinking of gifting it to my 12-year-old.

A: There's no strict age limit, but keep in mind that the tour includes moderate walking and some stair climbing. If your 12-year-old is up for a bit of adventure and can handle some walking, they should enjoy it! It's really educational and fun, especially with the lava tube and the beach visit.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the tour? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather conditions are unsafe, the tour will be rescheduled. They usually give you a couple of options to choose from. Just make sure to call them ahead of time if you see bad weather coming!

Q: Is there parking available for this tour if I’m driving to Hilo?

A: Parking can be tricky in Hilo, but if you're driving, there are a few public lots around the area. Just make sure to arrive early. The tour includes pick-up from hotels and Airbnbs, so if you can, taking advantage of that might save some hassle!

Just got back from the Hilo Shore Excursion—amazing day!

I took the Hilo Shore Excursion last week, and wow, it was incredible! The highlight was definitely walking through the Thurston Lava Tube and seeing Kilauea crater. The views were stunning! Lunch at the restaurant in Volcano Village was super tasty, too. Highly recommend this for anyone visiting the Big Island!

Considering gifting the Hilo Shore Excursion for my parents’ anniversary!

My parents love nature, and I think this tour would be perfect for them! Visiting that black sand beach and the waterfalls sounds so romantic. Just wanted to check if the tour is good for older folks—my dad's in his 70s but pretty active. What do you think?
