Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the Volcano Safari tour? Is it muddy?

A: Definitely wear sturdy shoes with good grip! The trails can get muddy, especially near the lava caves and rainforest areas. Lightweight, breathable clothing is a good idea since it can get warm. And don't forget sunscreen and a hat if you're sensitive to the sun!

Q: Is this tour suitable for kids? What’s the age limit?

A: Great question! The tour is generally suitable for kids, but it’s best for ages 8 and up due to the hiking involved. Just keep in mind that some areas can be challenging for younger children, so it depends on their comfort level with walking and exploring outdoors.

Q: How does the pickup from the Hilo port work for cruise passengers?

A: They have a designated meeting point right at the Hilo port for cruise guests. Once you book, they’ll send you exact details on where to go. It's super convenient! And the pickup times are adjusted based on your ship's schedule, so you don't need to worry about missing the tour.

Anyone done the Volcano Safari on the Big Island? Need tips!

I’m thinking about gifting the Volcano Safari experience to my parents when they visit Hawaii. They love nature but I’m a bit worried about the hiking part. How tough is it really? Are the lava caves accessible? Also, what’s the best time of year to go?

Just got back from the Volcano Safari! What an adventure!

I took the Volcano Safari tour last week and wow, it was amazing! The lava caves were mind-blowing, and seeing the black sand beach was surreal. The guide was super knowledgeable and made the experience even better. Just be ready for some hiking and wear good shoes! Highly recommend this for anyone visiting Hawaii!
