Q&A
A: There's no strict age restriction for the tour, so it's a great option for families! Just keep in mind that younger kids might not find the historical info as engaging, but they’ll enjoy the scenic views. It’s also a good idea to bring snacks and maybe a toy for little ones.
A: You’ll mostly be seated during the drive, but there are a few stops where you might do some short walks, especially at the overlooks. Dress in layers since the weather can change quickly in Alaska. A light jacket, comfortable shoes, and maybe a hat for sun protection are good ideas!
A: Parking can be a bit tricky during peak tourist season in Skagway, but the tour company usually provides a meeting point where parking is easier to find. I recommend arriving a bit early to secure a spot! They also provide good directions once you book.

Just did the Historic Gold Rush Scenic Drive and loved it!
I took the Historic Gold Rush Scenic Drive last week and it was amazing! The views from the Naku Bay overlook were breathtaking, and our guide shared so many interesting stories about the gold rush and Dyea. There were also cool photo ops at the Taiya River overlook. I highly recommend this if you're in Skagway!
Thinking about gifting the Historic Gold Rush Scenic Drive!
I'm considering this experience for my parents' anniversary. They love history and Alaska, so it seems perfect! Was the guide knowledgeable? And how's the drive? Any tips would be appreciated.
