Your experience begins with a short video presentation in the main museum. After the video your guide will lead you on a short walking tour along the banks of the New River. You will visit the Pioneer House Museum, and the 1899 Replica Schoolhouse Museum, before returning to view the Seminole culture, Maritime history and pioneer exhibits in the main museum.  All three museums are located on the picturesque banks of the New River right in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Q: Is there an age limit for the walking tour part of the experience?

A: There’s no strict age limit! Kids can join in and learn about history, and children aged 0-6 are actually free. Just keep in mind that the walking tour is along the banks of the New River, so make sure they’re comfortable walking for a bit.

Q: Can we reschedule if we can't make it on the planned date?

A: Yes, you can definitely reschedule! Just reach out to the History Fort Lauderdale team at least 24 hours in advance, and they’ll help you find another date that works.

Q: What should we wear for the walking tour?

A: Dress comfortably since you’ll be walking along the riverbank. I suggest wearing sneakers and lightweight clothing, especially if it’s warm out. Also, don’t forget sunscreen and maybe a hat!

I want to surprise my niece with a fun educational gift. This tour at the History Museum sounds perfect! Can anyone share how long the whole experience is? I’ve heard the walking tour is nice, but I want to make sure it’s not too long for her. Also, how's the vibe, is it kid-friendly?

I went to the History Museum in Fort Lauderdale last weekend, and it was awesome! The Pioneer House was really interesting, and the walking tour by the river was super nice. The guide was engaging and had a ton of info. Plus, it’s free for kids! I can see this being a great gift for families. Anyone else been?
