Q&A
A: There’s no specific age limit, but kids should be at least 6 years old to paddle on their own. For younger kids, it’s better if they sit in a tandem kayak with an adult. Just make sure they can wear a PFD properly, which is provided. It's a really fun outing for families!
A: Wear something lightweight and quick-drying! A swimsuit or shorts with a breathable top is perfect. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat; you’ll be out in the sun. Water shoes are a good idea too since you might get wet while launching.
A: If the weather is really bad, they’ll reach out to you to reschedule. They’re pretty good about it, but if it’s just a little rain, you might still want to go for it since the area is shallow. Just make sure it's not too windy or stormy!

Thinking of gifting the kayak rental in Whalebone! Anyone tried it?
I’m looking to surprise my brother with something fun for his birthday and this kayak rental looks awesome! The shallow water seems perfect for beginners, and I love that it’s near the Bodie Island Wildlife Refuge. Do you think it’s a good choice for someone who's never kayaked before? Any tips?
Just did the kayak rental in Whalebone - so much fun!
If you’re considering it, just go for it! We saw so many cool birds near the wildlife refuge and the water was super calm. It was a perfect day for kayaking. I recommend going early in the morning for the best experience!
