Q&A
A: There isn’t a strict age limit for kids, but it’s best suited for ages 5 and up. I took my 7-year-old last summer, and he loved it! Just keep in mind that it can get a bit chilly, so a warm jacket for the kiddos is a must.
A: Definitely layer up! It can get windy and cold out there on the water. I wore a light thermal under a windbreaker and was perfectly fine. Don't forget a hat and sunglasses too; the sun can be bright!
A: Yes! If the weather isn't cooperating, you can usually reschedule for another day. Just make sure to contact them 24 hours in advance. They’re really accommodating about it, and you don’t want to miss out on those whales!

Whale Watching in Hoonah - A Must Do!
Just got back from the Icy Strait Whale Watching Adventure and it was AMAZING! We saw humpback whales breaching and even a couple of sea otters! The snacks on the boat were perfect for the kids, and the views were out of this world. Definitely wear layers! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a memorable experience!
Considering the Whale Watching Tour as a Gift!
I’m thinking about gifting my parents the whale watching tour for their anniversary. They love nature but haven’t been whale watching before. I just want to make sure it’s worth it. Anyone have tips or feedback? I read it includes snacks and drinks, but is that enough for a longer tour?
