Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this canyon experience? My kids are 10 and 12, think they'll manage?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but I’d recommend it for kids 12 and up for the best experience. The terrain can be pretty rugged and involves some scrambling, so it depends on how adventurous your kids are! If they’re comfortable with hiking and have a good attitude about it, they might surprise you. Just make sure they’re wearing sturdy shoes.

Q: What’s the best time of year to do this? I don’t want to end up in a heatwave!

A: Late spring or early fall is ideal for this kind of experience in La Jolla! The weather’s mild, not too hot, and perfect for exploring the canyons. Summers can get really toasty, and there’s a chance of rain in the winter. Just check the forecast a few days ahead to be safe!

Q: Do you need to bring your own climbing gloves or are they provided?

A: They provide climbing gloves as part of the experience, so no need to bring your own! Just wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes. The guide does a great job explaining everything beforehand, so you’ll feel ready!

Just booked the Incredible Slot Canyons to the Pacific experience!

I'm so pumped! I booked this as a surprise for my brother’s birthday. We're heading out next month in early October. I can’t wait to see those sandstone formations and get some great photos! Anyone have tips on what to wear or how intense it really is? I'm kinda nervous about the scrambling parts.

Anyone done the slot canyon experience? How was it?

Thinking about gifting this experience to my adventurous girlfriend for her birthday. I read it involves ropes and scrambling, which is a bit daunting. Is it really as tough as it sounds? She’s done some hiking but nothing extreme. Would she love it or be overwhelmed?
