Q&A
A: No, you won't get to choose your Alcatraz time slot. The provider assigns it for you between 8:45am and 4pm. Make sure to check your email for your assigned time, as it’ll include all the details. I did this recently, and it worked out great since they give you enough time for both the tour and the boat cruise!
A: There are no strict age limits for the boat cruise, and it's pretty family-friendly! However, keep in mind that kids under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult. As for weight limits, I didn't see any mentioned, so it seems like everyone can join in on the fun!
A: Good question! Definitely dress in layers. It can get chilly especially on the water, plus the wind can pick up around the Golden Gate. I wore a light jacket and was glad I did—definitely check the weather too before heading out. Comfortable shoes are a must since you’ll be walking around Alcatraz!

Just did the Alcatraz and Golden Gate Cruise! Amazing day!
I went on this combo tour last week and it was incredible! The Alcatraz tour is super informative, and the audio guide in the cell house was really well done. We had a 10am slot, and then did the boat cruise around 1pm. The views of the Golden Gate were just stunning. I even saw some sea lions! Highly recommend it as a gift for anyone visiting SF.
Planning to gift the Alcatraz & Cruise experience—any tips?
I’m thinking about gifting this experience to my sister’s family since they’re coming to visit in October. I've heard it can get pretty packed. Should I book it ahead of time? Also, any suggestions on what to bring?
