A: Yes, the tours are generally suitable for kids ages 8 and up. They do require parents to supervise younger ones if they’re under 12, but as long as your kids are comfortable in the water and can paddle a bit, they'll have a blast! Just check with the guide ahead of time for any specific concerns.

Q: What should we wear for the kayak paddle? Is it cold on the water?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get chilly out on the water, especially if it’s windy. I recommend moisture-wicking clothes and a nice windbreaker. Also, don't forget a hat and sunscreen! The guides provide gear, but you’ll want to be comfortable too.

Just did the Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka—wow!

I recently went on the Island Discovery Kayak tour and it was absolutely incredible! Our guide was a local who shared so much cool info about the wildlife and history of Sitka. We paddled past Rockwell Lighthouse and saw sea otters! The group was small, only 5 of us, which made it really personal. I can't recommend it enough for anyone visiting—or even as a gift for someone who loves the outdoors!
