Q&A
A: Yes, the tours are generally suitable for kids ages 8 and up. They do require parents to supervise younger ones if they’re under 12, but as long as your kids are comfortable in the water and can paddle a bit, they'll have a blast! Just check with the guide ahead of time for any specific concerns.
A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get chilly out on the water, especially if it’s windy. I recommend moisture-wicking clothes and a nice windbreaker. Also, don't forget a hat and sunscreen! The guides provide gear, but you’ll want to be comfortable too.
A: Yes, they have a flexible rescheduling policy! If the weather is bad, they’ll reach out to you to set up a new time. Just make sure to check for any weather alerts in advance, though, cause sometimes they can't always predict the changes.

Just did the Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka—wow!
I recently went on the Island Discovery Kayak tour and it was absolutely incredible! Our guide was a local who shared so much cool info about the wildlife and history of Sitka. We paddled past Rockwell Lighthouse and saw sea otters! The group was small, only 5 of us, which made it really personal. I can't recommend it enough for anyone visiting—or even as a gift for someone who loves the outdoors!
Considering the Island Discovery Kayak experience as a gift—thoughts?
I’m looking into getting the kayak paddle experience in Sitka for my partner’s birthday. I think it sounds awesome, but I want to make sure it’s worth it. How was the overall experience? Were the snacks and water really included as they say?
