Q&A
A: There's no specific age limit for kids, but I’d recommend this more for ages 5 and up since it’s a long ride. Kids under 5 might get restless during the nearly 4-hour trip. Plus, they might not be as interested in the history at the Douglas Mansion Museum. It’s definitely family-friendly, though!
A: The tour is mostly outdoors, so dress in layers! It can get chilly on the train, especially in the canyon. I'd recommend comfy shoes for walking around Old Town Jerome and Cottonwood too. Also, don't forget sunscreen if you're sensitive to sun exposure—we're in Arizona, after all!
A: They usually run the train even if it rains, but it might depend on how severe the weather is. If there's a risk of lightning or heavy storms, they might cancel or delay. I’d recommend calling Arizona Scenic Tours the day before to check their policy. They’re super helpful!

Just got back from the Verde Canyon Scenic Tour, and wow!
I just did the Jerome and Verde Canyon Railroad tour last weekend, and it was amazing! The Douglas Mansion Museum was super interesting, especially if you like mining history. The train ride itself was stunning - the views of the Verde Canyon are unbelievable! The shops in Cottonwood had some cool antiques, and we grabbed lunch at a cute little café in Jerome. Highly recommend it for a gift or just for a fun day out!
Thinking of gifting the Verde Canyon tour, but need some insights!
I’m considering gifting the Jerome and Verde Canyon Railroad tour to my parents for their anniversary. They love nature and history, but I’m a little worried about the long train ride. Is it really worth it? Any tips for first-timers?
