Q&A
A: This hike is pretty challenging! It’s about 6-7 miles and includes 800 feet of elevation gain, with rocky and slippery terrain. If you’re a beginner, I’d recommend building up some fitness first. It’s not impossible for a first-timer, but you should be prepared for some tough spots and have good balance.
A: Definitely wear layers! The weather can change quickly in Juneau, so a good rain jacket and pants are essential. The tour provides some gear, but it's smart to wear sturdy hiking boots for the uneven terrain. Don’t forget to bring a hat and sunglasses too for the glacier reflection!
A: Kids 12 and up can usually join if they’re accompanied by an adult. It’s really important they can handle the physical demands, though. The terrain is wild and can be tough for younger kids. Just check with the provider to confirm depending on your kids’ abilities!

Thinking about gifting the Mendenhall Glacier hike!
Hey everyone! I’m considering this Mendenhall Glacier Guided Hike in Juneau as a gift for my partner’s birthday. It sounds amazing with the trek through the rainforest and the views of the glacier. I'm hoping it won't be too strenuous, though. Has anyone done this? What were your thoughts?
