Q&A
A: There's no strict age limit, but younger kids (under 10) might find the hike challenging due to the 650' elevation gain. It's best suited for ages 12 and up, but if you think your child can handle it, just check with the guide first! Some families take younger kids if they're adventurous and used to hiking.
A: They do prioritize safety, so if the weather looks severe, they’ll either cancel or reschedule. You usually get a full refund or a chance to pick a new date. Just keep an eye on the forecast and give them a call if it looks iffy!
A: Wear layers! It can get chilly out on the water and during the hike. Bring a waterproof jacket, sturdy hiking shoes, and maybe a hat. They provide most of the gear you need for kayaking, but it’s good to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet.

Thinking about gifting the Kayak and Hike experience in Seward!
Hey, I'm considering this for my boyfriend's birthday! The paddle to Fort McGilvray sounds amazing, especially with all that history. I read it’s about an 8-hour day, which might be a bit much, but the views from the top of Caines Head sound totally worth it. Has anyone done this? What did you think?
Just got back from the Kayak and Hike experience!
OMG, this was hands-down one of the best experiences I've had! The kayak ride to the fort was so serene, and then the hike was a real workout but totally rewarding with those views of the Gulf. I recommend bringing a snack for when you reach the top! The guides were super helpful too. Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience Alaska!
