Q&A

Q: Are there any age limits for kids to join the canoe trip?

A: There's no strict age limit, but kids 5 and up are generally recommended. Just keep in mind that they should be able to sit still in the canoe for a bit. If your kids have adventurous spirits, they'll probably love it! Parents should also be prepared to help out with paddling if needed.

Q: What should we wear for the canoe trip? Any special gear needed?

A: Dress in layers! The weather can change quickly in Ketchikan. Waterproof jackets and sturdy shoes are a must. They provide life jackets, but you might want to bring a hat and sunglasses too, especially if it’s sunny. Comfortable clothes that can get wet are ideal!

Q: What happens if it rains? Does the trip get cancelled?

A: They usually don't cancel for light rain, which is pretty common in Ketchikan! The experience continues, so just be prepared for wet weather. If it’s really severe, they’ll let you know in advance and offer rescheduling options. It can actually be a unique experience with the mist in the rainforest!

Thinking of surprising my partner with the Ketchikan Rainforest Canoe trip!

I’m planning a little getaway to Ketchikan and I found this rainforest canoe and nature walk. It's 3.5 hours of paddling through this beautiful area, and I love that there’s a guide sharing history and wildlife info. Plus, they have Alaskan snacks included! Has anyone done this? Any tips?

Just did the Ketchikan Rainforest Canoe trip and it was epic!

I just got back from the canoe trip and wow, it was amazing! Paddling through the Tongass National Forest and spotting wildlife was surreal. Our guide was so knowledgeable and the rainforest walk was beautiful. I highly recommend it as a gift! Just a heads up, though, the canoeing required a bit of effort for my arms, but totally worth it!
