The Amargosa dunes are so steep and so tall that you're not likely to get to the top of many of the larger ones, but we know you'll have fun trying. These are the tallest free-standing dunes in North America! One of the best parts is the huge 'bowls' formed between the large dunes. You zip towards the bottom only to race back up the other side, then turn around and repeat. This is a supervised free-roaming off-road adventure tour: 1. We'll show you around the area so you know where on the dunes is OK to play 2. We'll provide education about the protected Big Dunes Beetle to be sure you know where the no-go zones are. 3. Guides will show you how to drive the buggies and navigate over the sand razorbacks and how to avoid getting stuck in the deep soft sand 4. Then you're free to explore all on your own while our staff stays on-site to assist as needed and to make sure you're having a safe adventure.

Q&A

Q: Are there age limits for the Big Dune Free Roam Adventure? My kids are 12 and 14, can they join?

A: Yes, kids aged 12 and up can participate in the Big Dune Free Roam Adventure as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. Just make sure they’re comfortable with driving the buggies since it's mostly free-roaming! It's a blast for both younger teens and adults alike.

Q: What should we wear for this adventure? Is there anything specific we need?

A: Definitely wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting sand on! Closed-toe shoes are a must, and I recommend sunglasses and maybe a hat since it can get sunny out there. Sunblock is also key! They provide safety gear, so you don’t need to worry about that.

Q: What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather is bad, they usually reschedule or give you a full refund. Make sure to check the weather forecast a day or two ahead of time. They’re really good about keeping you updated, so you’ll know before you head out.

Thinking of gifting the Big Dune Adventure – thoughts?

I'm considering this as a gift for my boyfriend’s birthday since he loves off-roading. It looks like so much fun at those Amargosa dunes! Can anyone share tips on the best time to go? I want to make sure it’s a great experience for him.
