We invite you to spend some time in the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. As you walk the streets of the Vieux Carré, you will learn the stories of Louisiana's Creoles. Louisiana is unique among regions of the United States. The fascinating stories of notable Creoles (West Africans, Native Americans and Europeans) will shed light on the development of the culture that sets us apart from the rest of the American South. Louisiana is part of the southern United States, but culturally it is the northernmost region of the Caribbean. This tour is an exploration of Louisiana Creole, an exploration of the culture that gave birth to jazz and zydeco, gumbo and jambalaya. (This tour also includes a visit to a courtyard of a 19th century house.)

Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the French Quarter tour? Is it a lot of walking?

A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes! The French Quarter has a lot of cobblestone streets, so you’ll be doing quite a bit of walking. I’d recommend lightweight clothing since it can get pretty warm, especially in summer. Sunscreen is a must too, since you'll be outdoors learning about the amazing Creole culture.

Q: Is this tour suitable for kids or younger teens? What’s the age recommendation?

A: This tour is great for families! While there’s no strict age limit, I'd say it's best for kids aged 10 and up who can appreciate the history. The stories of the Creoles can be super engaging! Just keep in mind it’s a walking tour, so younger kids might get tired easily.

Q: What happens if it rains? Is the tour canceled?

A: They usually go ahead with the tour unless the weather is really severe. If it’s just a light rain, they’ll provide ponchos. But if it’s a cancellation, they will reach out to reschedule. So, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the weather forecast before you go!

Thinking of gifting the French Quarter tour for my parents' anniversary!

I’m considering this Louisiana of the Creoles tour for my parents' anniversary. They love history and good food, so I'm hoping they'll enjoy learning about Creole culture and maybe try some gumbo afterward! Anyone gone on this before? Is it really worth it?

Anyone know if this tour includes any food tastings?

I’m super interested in the French Quarter tour but I saw it doesn’t mention food. I’m going with my foodie friends and we were hoping to sample some local cuisine during the tour. Can anyone clarify?
